J. P. BAGBY


J. P. Bagby farmer, section g, is a son of Richard Bagby, Esq., who was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and when about fifteen years old moved to Kentucky, locating in Barren County. There he was married to Miss Sarah M. Field, a native of Virginia. They emigrated to Missouri in the year 1837.

J. P. was born in Buchanan County, Missouri, August 30, 1841. In 1851, with his parents, he came to Holt County and located on the place where he now resides. His farm consists of 280 acres. Mr. Bagby served in the late war, from 1861 until its close, being in the Confederate service. He was mustered out of Co. A. Sixteenth Missouri. He is a member of Mound City Lodge No. 294, A. F. and A. M.

Mr. Bagby was married September 14, 1872, to Miss Nancy Rodgers, and by this marriage they had five children, three of whom are now living : Samuel, Robert G., and Martha M. Mrs. Bagby was born in Monroe County, Iowa, January 14, 1849. Her father, James Rodgers, was a native of Tennessee, and her mother, whose maiden name was Martha Mudd, was a Kentuckian by birth.
