Dr. A. GOSLIN, who has been practicing medicine in Oregon since June, 1869, was born in Clermont County, Ohio February 24, 1830.
He attended High School there in Felicity and, in 1854, became a student in Antioch College at Yellow Springs, Ohio then under
the presidency of the distinguished Horace Mann. In 1856, he began to study medicine at Felicity and, in the winters of 1857-58
and 1858-59, attended lectures at Ohio Medical College at Cincinnati, graduating in spring of 1859.
He practiced medicine at Felicity and then at Carmi, Illinois. In September, 1861 he enlisted in the Union army, and served as captain
of company H, 48th Illinois regiment until April, 1862. After the battle of Shiloh, he was promoted to surgeon of the regiment in
which capacity he acted until October 30, 1864. He was then appointed acting staff surgeon and had charge of the 15th Army Corps
hospital until the close of war in 1865.
He became a resident of Olney, Illinois until May, 1869 when he moved to Oregon, Holt County, Missouri and established his medical
practice. He has the reputation of being an able surgeon and physician. During his army practice he performed with success
some of the most difficult and complicated surgical operations on record. He is a Republican in politics. He is interested
in education and is now president of the Board of the Northwest Missouri Normal School. He was married at Felicity, Ohio in
1855, to Sarah A. QUINN.
